Roco 7120038 H0 Dampflokomotive 150.Y.16, SNCF, Ep. III, AC-Sound Product Details

Roco 7120038 H0 Steam locomotive 150.Y.16, SNCF, Ep. III, AC sound

The Roco 7120038 H0 steam locomotive 150.Y.16 of the French State Railways (SNCF) is a detailed model that represents the French version of the well-known German war locomotive BR 52 in Era III. Equipped with an AC sound decoder, it brings an authentic driving experience to the model railway layout not only visually but also acoustically. The locomotive appears for the first time in black/green paintwork and impresses with a multitude of the finest details and technical refinements.

Historical background

In 1943/44, over 100 class 52 locomotives were produced at the Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (SACM) locomotive factory in Graffenstaden, Alsace. After the end of the war, in 1945/46, the SNCF received a further 17 locomotives. In France, the locomotives were added to the fleet under the designation 150.Y. In order to comply with the French clearance gauge, these locomotives were given a shortened chimney. They were used in the eastern region of France in both heavy freight and passenger service and were in service until the end of the 1950s.

Detailed model design

The model of the Roco 150.Y.16 is available for the first time in black/green paintwork. It has a disk leading wheel and fine metal spoke wheels, which ensure a realistic appearance. The driving and coupling rods are made of high-quality precision cast metal and emphasize the robust, authentic appearance of the locomotive. This combination makes the locomotive an eye-catcher on any layout.

Technical realization

The locomotive is driven via two axles of the tender, whereby the power is transmitted to all five driving axles of the locomotive via a cardan shaft. The model has a total of seven driven axles, two of which have traction tires. A flywheel mass ensures smooth running characteristics, even at low speeds. This design guarantees reliable operation on the layout.

Digital equipment with sound

The model is equipped with a PluX16 digital decoder and offers realistic sound effects that enhance operation acoustically. The 2 headlights, which are dependent on the direction of travel, are equipped with modern LED technology and provide prototypical lighting. The locomotive is also Z21 cab compatible, allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into modern digital control systems.

Use on the model railroad

With a length over buffers of 265 mm, the Roco 150.Y.16 is suitable for use in realistic train formations of Era III. Whether in front of heavy freight trains or in passenger train service - the model is versatile. Thanks to the NEM 362 coupler pocket and KK kinematics on the tender, problem-free operation in combination with other cars is guaranteed. The minimum radius of 358 mm also allows use on compact layouts.
