Roco 7120039 H0 Steam Locomotive 50 2146-4, DR, Ep. III-IV, AC Sound - New Construction Version for Märklin Systems
With the Roco 7120039 steam locomotive 50 2146-4, you can bring a powerful and detailed reproduction of a German State Railroad locomotive to your Märklin-compatible H0 layout. The class 50 locomotive shaped freight traffic in Germany for decades, and the locomotive 50 2146 was at home in the Zwickau depot of the Dresden District Railroad. This model impresses with its 3-domed boiler design with Witte wind deflectors, red-brown painted running gear and a new construction tender and is equipped with a digital sound decoder.
Historical role model in transition
The class 50 was one of the most universal freight locomotives of its time. After the end of the war, 354 examples were preserved in East Germany and continued to play a central role in railroad operations. They were often combined with new construction tenders of the 23.10 and 50.40 series. However, due to the lack of a continuous rear wall, this combination was particularly unpopular with staff in winter - a prototype detail that has been taken into account in this model realization.
Finely detailed realization
The model of the 50 2146-4 is characterized by numerous details: Lamps with grab irons on the front buffer beam, filigree metal wheel sets, new construction tenders as well as an authentic red-brown chassis paint scheme. This version reflects the typical DR look of the 1960s and 1970s.
Powerful drive with digital sound
The locomotive is driven by two axles in the tender, with the power being transmitted to all five driving axles of the locomotive via a cardan shaft. This means that the locomotive has a total of seven driven axles, two of which are fitted with traction tires. A flywheel mass ensures smooth running. The factory-fitted PluX16 decoder offers extensive sound functions that bring the model to life acoustically - including steam strokes, driving and braking noises.
Technical highlights
The locomotive is equipped with a direction-dependent 3 headlight with LED technology, which lights up realistically at both ends of the vehicle. Thanks to the NEM 362 coupling with close coupling kinematics on the tender, it can be easily integrated into train formations. With a length over buffers of 265 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is ideally suited for operation-oriented layouts.
