The Roco 7300082 754 083-4 diesel locomotive of the ZSSK is a finely detailed model in the current design of Era VI. With numerous separately applied components and prototypical implementation, this locomotive is a highlight for model railroaders who want to realistically represent modern railroad operations in Slovakia.

Prototype and history

The class known as the "diving goggles" or "spectacle snake" was developed by CKD in Prague. The predecessor type T 478.3 was further developed into the T 478.4 and received a more powerful engine and an electric train heating system. Between 1978 and 1980, 86 machines were built, which were given the series designation 754 from 1988. Locomotive 754 083 was delivered to ČSD in May 1980 as T 478.4083. After the division of the fleet in 1993, it went to the Slovakian ZSR together with 26 other machines and is now part of the ZSSK fleet.

Detailed model realization

The Roco model shows the 754 083 in the current ZSSK design. Many filigree and separately applied plug-in parts ensure a realistic appearance. Finely detailed bogies, clean printing and the typical body design of the 754 series make the model an eye-catcher on any layout.

Technical features

The locomotive is driven by a motor with a flywheel, which ensures smooth running characteristics. Four axles are driven, one of which has traction tires to increase tractive power. The headlights alternate between three white headlights and two red tail lights depending on the direction of travel and are equipped with modern LED technology. The model can be easily digitized via the PluX22 interface.

Use on the model railroad

With a length over buffers of 190 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is suitable for operation on all standard H0 layouts. It is ideal for use in front of express and passenger trains as well as freight trains in the current ZSSK operation of Era VI.
