The locomotive has a flywheel, two driven axles and an axle with traction tires - ensuring sufficient traction and smooth running characteristics. Thanks to the NEM 362 coupler pocket with close coupler link, it can also be easily integrated into a wide variety of train formations. The minimum radius of 358 mm also allows it to be used on compact H0 layouts.

A piece of Czech railroad history

The T 478.3 series was developed and built by the Czech manufacturer CKD from 1968. With an improved engine output of 1,360 kW compared to the previous series and the new, eye-catching front design, this diesel-electric universal locomotive quickly became an unmistakable part of the Czech rail network. A total of 408 units were produced and were used in a wide variety of applications.
