The Roco 7500168 BB 26005 electric locomotive of the French State Railways (SNCF) is an exclusive model in the Era VI version. It is presented in the special "Trains Spéciaux" design, which is intended for locomotives that are used for traction of reserved special trains. With fine detailing, modern technology and prototypical color scheme, this model is an eye-catcher for any H0 layout.
Prototype and use
The BB 26005 locomotive belongs to the so-called "Sybic" family, which has been in service since the 1980s. The special "Trains Spéciaux" service offered by SNCF Voyageurs makes it possible to reserve all or part of a train for groups or special trips. Some locomotives were given this special design to identify the locomotives used for this purpose. The colour scheme also harmonizes with the luxurious sleeping cars of the Venice-Simplon-Orient-Express, which means that the locomotive can also be used for high-quality international travel.
Detailed model realization
The model impresses with its fine finish: filigree pantographs, etched parts on the roof and numerous separately applied components give the locomotive a realistic appearance. The "Trains Spéciaux" paintwork is applied with pin-sharp precision and perfectly reproduces the exclusive prototype. With a length of 204 mm, the locomotive fits seamlessly into existing train formations.
Technical features
The locomotive is equipped with a powerful 5-pole motor with flywheel, which ensures smooth and even running characteristics. Four axles are driven, one of which has traction tires, which ensures high tractive power. The direction-dependent head/tail light is implemented with LED technology and can be switched via a DIP switch. This also makes the locomotive ideal for use in push-pull operation.
