The E.656 series is a six-axle Italian electric locomotive series with the nickname "Caimano" (German: Kaiman). It is a further development of the E.636, E.645 and E.646 types, also with a split locomotive body. However, they have modified axle and bogie pivot spacing compared to the type E.636. The high tractive power and the maximum speed of 150 km/h enable them to be used in front of passenger and freight trains.
