The 263 series was developed by Skoda in the 1980s as a universal AC locomotive for Czechoslovakian rail traffic. Ten series locomotives were delivered to the then CSD in 1988. Today, they are primarily used under the ZSSK flag on the Bratislava-Břeclav line - often with passenger trains in express service.
