E 44 - Milestone of the early electric locomotives

Almost 200 locomotives of the E 44 series were built between 1932 and 1954. With their robust bogie design, 2,200 kW power and a top speed of 90 km/h, they became one of the DRB's most successful standard electric locomotives. The E 44 proved its worth in both passenger and freight traffic and formed the basis for later developments such as the E 44.5, E 93 and E 94.
