In 2010, the Mariazell Railway was acquired from ÖBB by the Lower Austrian Transport Organization Company (NÖVOG). Only four of the 15 1099 series electric locomotives remained in the fleet. In 2020, the E 10 (1099 010), which had previously been used as a spare parts donor, was refurbished. It was also given a new appearance. In addition to the brown-gold painted locomotive body, the roof and the fan grilles now shine in silver. This means that the time-honored locomotive is once again ready for use in nostalgic train service with the "Ötscherbär".
