Roco electric locomotive 103 113-7 - TT, DB AG, Era V-VI
The Roco 7580021 brings the famous class 103 in the DB Museum version to the TT layout. With its Next18 interface, short design and red frame, the model impresses with its wealth of detail and classic elegance. The 103 is still considered one of the most beautiful electric locomotives today, and this model is a worthy monument to it.
Design & workmanship
The locomotive is designed in the shorter version with a red frame and without skirts and buffer cladding. Finely printed surfaces, detailed roof superstructures, filigree ventilation grilles and many separately attached parts underline the high-quality workmanship. The model is faithfully based on the museum version of the 103 113-7.
Technology & equipment
A 5-pole motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth, even running. Four axles are driven, two of which have traction tires. The locomotive has LED headlights (3 headlights / 2 marker lights) that change over with the direction of travel. The model is designed for DC analog operation and has a Next18 interface so that it can be digitally retrofitted at any time.
Historical background
The 103 originated from the pre-series of the E 03, which was developed in the 1960s for high-quality passenger train service. Between 1970 and 1974, 145 series machines were built, which were officially designated BR 103.1. For decades, it was DB's flagship for intercity services and, with its elegant design, is considered one of the most beautiful electric locomotives ever built. The 103 113-7 is now part of the DB Museum and is a reminder of this glamorous era.
Compatibility & possible uses
The locomotive is designed for DC analog operation, but can easily be converted to digital operation thanks to the modern Next18 interface. It is ideal for intercity and express train services of eras V-VI as well as museum use on modern model railroad layouts.
Purchase arguments & target group
This model is a must for fans of classic DB express locomotives and for anyone who values authentic museum models. It combines a classic look, precise production and flexible application options on analog and digital layouts.
