Roco electric locomotive 211 015-3 - TT, DR, Era IV
With the Roco 7580032, the electric locomotive 211 015-3 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn appears in a detailed realization for the TT scale. In the early Era IV version with a gray roof and four distinctive double fan grilles, it brings authentic DR flair to the model railroad.
Design & workmanship
The model is prototypical with a gray roof, white buffer rings and four double fan grilles. The finely detailed running gear and numerous separately applied details ensure a high level of authenticity. The variant is designed without an Indusi vehicle magnet and fits perfectly with the matching Roco wagons of Era IV.
Technology & equipment
The locomotive is powered by a 5-pole motor with a flywheel and has four powered axles, two of which have traction tires. Lighting is provided by 3 headlights and 2 marker lights that switch depending on the direction of travel and are equipped with LEDs. The model is electrically designed for DC analogue operation, but has a modern Next18 interface for optional digitalization.
Historical background
The Deutsche Reichsbahn initially used old electric locomotives of the E 04, E 44 and E 94 series. As demand increased, LEW Hennigsdorf developed modern electric locomotives that could be used as express locomotives (E 11) or freight locomotives (E 42), depending on the gear ratio. A total of 387 locomotives were built between 1961 and 1977. The early construction series from 1962/63, to which the 211 015-3 belongs, were given the characteristic four double fan grilles and reinforcing beading in the frame.
Compatibility & possible uses
The model is designed for DC analog operation, but can easily be retrofitted digitally thanks to the Next18 interface. It is ideal as a train locomotive for DR express and freight trains in Era IV and harmonizes perfectly with the corresponding Roco wagons.
Purchase arguments & target group
This electric locomotive is a must for DR enthusiasts and TT model railroaders who value authentic Era IV vehicles. With its finely detailed design and modern interface, the 211 015-3 is equally interesting for collectors and layout builders.
