Roco 7590031 TT electric loco 103 002-2, DB, Ep. IV, DC-Sound Product Details
Roco electric locomotive 103 002-2 - TT, DB, Era IV, with sound
The Roco 7590031 represents the elegant pre-series locomotive 103 002-2 of the German Federal Railroad. With pantographs, Next18 interface, digital sound and, for the first time, switchable engine room lighting, this model brings a piece of railroad history to the TT scale.
Design & workmanship
The locomotive is presented in the classic Era IV design and shows the pre-series design of the class 103 with scissor pantographs. Finely printed surfaces, detailed roof superstructures and separately applied components such as grab rails and fan grilles give the model a high degree of authenticity. The prototype was used in regular service until 1976 and is reproduced in this operating condition in a prototypical manner.
Technology & equipment
A 5-pole motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth running. Four axles are driven, two of them with traction tires for optimum traction. The lighting consists of 3 headlights / 2 marker lights, each with LEDs and changeover depending on the direction of travel. In digital operation, the locomotive has a Next18 sound decoder with authentic sounds and switchable engine room lighting. The model is also Z21 cab compatible.
Historical background
The class E 03, later known as the class 103, was the first DB high-speed locomotive for operation at speeds of up to 200 km/h. The pre-series locomotives were initially used in front of TEE and F trains from 1965 and were later increasingly used in test service. From 1974, all four pre-series 103s were stationed at the Hamburg-Eidelstedt depot, where they took over express trains as well as express trains. Their use in regular service ended in the fall of 1979, after which they remained exclusively in test service. The 103 002-2 impressively represents this early phase of German express locomotives.
Compatibility & possible uses
The locomotive is designed for DC digital operation and is equipped with a modern Next18 interface. It is ideally suited for use in front of high-quality TEE and F trains of Era IV as well as for the reproduction of test operations of the German Federal Railroad.
Purchase arguments & target group
This model is aimed at collectors and model railroaders who are looking for a special piece of railroad history in TT scale. With sound, digital engine room lighting and the finest details, the 103 002-2 is an absolute highlight for any Era IV layout.
