Herlasgrün is located along the double-track main line from Reichenbach to Plauen, where a branch line branches off to Klingenthal via Falkenstein. The triangle of tracks with a station building in an island location was built to provide access to the Upper Vogtland winter sports region from Plauen and Reichenbach. The railroad facilities are dimensioned according to the connection.
In the model, the branch line is only shown as far as Eich station. Various types of trains run on the main line, while the branch line is mainly used by regional passenger and freight trains. During the vacations and the winter season, some pairs of trains alternate between the lines.
Herlasgrün consists of residential houses, a farmstead and an inn. The branch line runs past the edge of the village and gradually climbs up to finally end at Eich station. Shunting duties are performed by a local freight train and the pitch boiling plant with siding.
An extensive staging yard completes the hidden part of the main line, which offers space for many train sets. The train runs from Klingenthal via Herlasgrün to Reichenbach and back can be realistically reproduced in the model.
