Description

Trix 22931 H0 electric locomotive 103 152-5, DB, Ep.IV, DC-MFX-sound Product Details

About the original: The DB class 103 is a heavy electric locomotive for fast passenger service, which was produced 4 times in 1965 as a pre-series model and 145 times between 1970 and 1974 as a main series model. With a continuous output of 7,440 kW (10,116 HP), the 103 series locomotives were the most powerful one-piece locomotives in the world when they entered service and are still the most powerful locomotives of all time in regular service in Germany. In 1997, the DB decided to gradually phase out the locomotives. Wear and tear was one of the main reasons for the decommissioning. This was caused by over 30 years of service in front of heavy intercity trains at speeds of up to 200km/h. The remaining locomotives were decommissioned by DB in 2003, but some of them can still be seen in operation. The DB Museum still uses E03 001, 103 113 and 103 245 for special trains and transfers and the private company RailAdventure from Munich has 103 222 in permanent operation.

About the model: With this reproduction of the class 103, Trix offers a technically and visually very convincing model, which depicts the operating condition around 1979, with a "short" cab, single-arm pantographs, front apron and buffer cladding. Visually, the model impresses with the excellently reproduced shape of the locomotive body, a multitude of filigree details and a true-to-original paintwork. This is characterized by the high precision of the prints and lettering and the excellent color tone. The many details include accurately reproduced roof electronics, including digitally raised and lowered pantographs, fan grilles, free-standing grab rails and a very detailed running gear. The technical features of the locomotive are also impressive across the board. It has a centrally installed, controlled high-performance drive with flywheel, which drives 4 axles and thus ensures excellent running characteristics, a great transfer of power to the track and high tractive power. The extensive light and sound functions can be controlled digitally using the factory-fitted sound decoder. A high-quality loudspeaker ensures that the sound functions sound powerful, clear and true to the original.
