Description

Bemo 1006891 steam locomotive VI K Umbau 99 687, DR, Ep. III Product Details

In 1881, the Royal Saxon State Railway (K.Sä.Sts.B.) opened the first of a total of 30 narrow-gauge railroads. The majority of the 561 km long network was built with a 750 mm gauge. The steep and winding lines soon became a challenge for many locomotive builders: The II K double locomotive imported from England, the III K with the Klose engine, the articulated IV K Meyer locomotive or the V K with Klien-Lindner hollow axles had maintenance-intensive engine designs.

It was not until the VI K, procured in 1918 for the former army field railroads, that powerful and - with laterally displaceable wheelsets of the Gölsdorf system - simply constructed 750 mm engines were introduced. Signs of wear forced the DR to modernize and reboiler some of the locomotives starting in 1963. Nevertheless, the VI K disappeared from service in 1975, not least because of the high axle loads. Today, the 1'E 1' unit locomotives procured by the DRG or DR dominate above all.

The steam locomotive production model is equipped with a bell-shaped armature motor and a 6-pole digital interface according to NEM 651. It is 103.3 mm long and in H0e gauge.
