Bemo 3288312 H0m Panoramic Car Bs 252, 2nd Class, Golden Pass, Era V–VI – Modern Comfort in a Narrow-Gauge Format
Are you looking for an elegant and prototypical addition to your H0m narrow-gauge layout? The Bemo Bs 252 panoramic car in the elegant Golden Pass livery brings the charm of one of Switzerland’s most famous passenger train concepts right to your model tracks—with clean lines, a high level of detail, and a touch of luxury.
A Success Story on Meter-Gauge Tracks
The history of panoramic cars on Swiss meter-gauge tracks began in 1976, when the Montreux-Berner Oberland Railway (MOB) commissioned the construction of its first observation car featuring large side windows, skylights, and air conditioning. In 1986, the “Superpanoramic Express” made its debut, consisting of two control cars and two salon cars, supplemented by a motor car positioned in the middle. A particularly striking feature: The train operator sat in the control car in a roof-mounted cab above the passengers—a truly unique selling point in European rail transport.
From the Superpanoramic to the GoldenPass Line
In 1993, another panoramic train entered service—this time with cars Arst 151–152 and Bs 251–252, including the Bs 252 featured here. With two control cars and a locomotive in the middle of the train, this set embodied state-of-the-art narrow-gauge technology. Starting in 2002, these four cars were combined with modernized in-house builds to form the new, style-defining “GoldenPass” concept. The powerful Ge 4/4 8001–8004 locomotives were used as the train’s locomotive—perfectly matched to the high-quality car stock.
H0m model true to the original
The Bemo Bs 252 panoramic car is manufactured in H0m scale and is ideal for all meter-gauge layouts. With a length over buffers of 212.6 mm and a recommended minimum curve radius of over 330 mm, the car can be used perfectly even on challenging tracks. The distinctive panoramic windows and the characteristic gold-colored paint scheme underscore its place in this exclusive train set.
Sophisticated Design and Technical Features
The car features a detailed interior—perfectly visible through the generous glazing. The in-house coupling ensures a secure hold, and the model is designed for operation on direct current (DC) layouts. Robustly constructed and finely crafted, the Bs 252 cuts an excellent figure not only visually but also in operation.
For model railroaders with an appreciation for luxury and history
Whether as a standalone model or as part of a complete Golden Pass set, the Bs 252 embodies modern Alpine romance at the highest level. With a history spanning decades and several generations of design, it is a true highlight for any H0m layout.
