Brawa 41584 diesel locomotive BR 290 der DB, Ep. IV (digital with Sound)

Around 50 years ago, on August 4, 1964, the Deutsche Bundesbahn put the first of a total of 511 locomotives of the V90/290 and 291 series delivered by Mak into service. The locomotives were developed for heavy shunting and transfer service. To simplify operation, a large number of the locomotives were equipped with radio remote control and automatic coupling, which was made visible from the outside by the allocation of the new 294, 295 and 296 series. The locomotive family is still reliably in service today and DB AG will only retire the first class 291/295 locomotives from its maintenance fleet with the appearance of the new Voith Gravita.
