Description

Brawa 50083 H0 Kesselwagen Z [P] "VTG", DB, Ep. III Product Details

Brawa 50083 H0 Tank Car Z [P] "VTG", DB, Era III: Authentic chemical tank car for your model railway layout

The Brawa 50083 H0 Tank Car Z [P] "VTG" is a detailed replica of a chemical tank car from the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) from Era III. With its true-to-original "VTG" lettering and numerous precisely crafted details, this model brings the history of freight transport from the 1950s and 1960s to your H0 model railroad layout.

The Prototype: VTG Chemical Tank Cars in Era III

The interchangeable-type chemical tank cars from the 1930s were specifically designed for the safe transport of chemical products such as acids and hazardous liquids. A key safety feature of these cars was the absence of bottom valves to prevent accidental leakage. The tanks were smaller than those of conventional tank cars because acids have a higher density.

After World War II, VTG (Vereinigte Tanklager und Transportmittel GmbH) acquired many of these cars and used them for chemical transport. VTG played a central role in post-war freight transport and leased its cars to various companies in the chemical industry. Many of these robust cars remained in service into the 1970s before they were gradually taken out of service.

Brawa – Precision and Attention to Detail in Model Making

The Brawa brand stands for the highest quality and attention to detail. The 50083 tank car takes into account design differences such as riveted or welded construction and features a faithful reproduction of the heating trough. Finely engraved bogies, separately attached axle box covers, ladders, and railings, as well as the freestanding ladders, contribute to the authentic appearance of this model.

Technical details of the Brawa 50083 tank car

The model has a length over the buffers of 101 mm and is designed for the 2-wire direct current (DC) system. It features close-coupling kinematics and a NEM coupler housing, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into existing train formations. The minimum operating radius is 360 mm, and an AC wheel set swap is easily possible (AC wheel set: Brawa order no. 2187).

Era III: Economic Boom and Modern Freight Transport

Era III (1949–1970) marked a period of economic growth and the modernization of freight transport in Germany. The Deutsche Bundesbahn deployed a wide variety of vehicles, some of which it had taken over from the pre-war period. Chemical tank cars like this one played a vital role in supplying the chemical industry with raw materials and chemical products.

Conclusion: A must-have for lovers of historic freight cars

The Brawa 50083 H0 Tank Car Z [P] "VTG" is the perfect choice for model railroading enthusiasts and collectors who appreciate historical accuracy and technical perfection. With its high-quality craftsmanship, detailed replicas, and authentic lettering, this model brings a piece of railway history to your layout.
