The Prototype – New Zas-Type Tank Cars
The Zas tank cars trace their origins to a German-French compensation program of the 1970s, under which the DR received approximately 1,250 modern four-axle mineral oil cars. With a tank capacity of 85,150 liters and a permitted wheel set load of 20 metric tons, they were ideally suited for transporting diesel, gasoline, and other mineral oils.
