The multi-part brake system and the brake shoes at wheel level contribute to the excellent detailing. A model that impresses with its authentic design and intricate workmanship.
Technical features & special functions
The prototypical equipment with close coupling kinematics, multi-part brake system and separately applied details enables realistic and reliable use in model railroad operation. Particularly noteworthy are the functional and visually impressive add-on parts such as ladders, railings and axle bearings, which give the wagon additional depth.
Historical background
The origin of these tank wagons lies in the so-called exchange design, which was introduced by the DRG at the end of the 1920s. Tank wagons with a capacity of 19.2 m³ were among the first vehicles to be based on the new underframes. They were manufactured using riveted construction, as welding techniques were not yet sufficiently developed. From 1928, over 1,000 wagons were built, which were also used by DB in the post-war period - often continued to be operated by private railroads or companies such as VTG. Some examples remained in active service until the early 1980s.
Compatibility & expansion options
Thanks to the NEM shaft and close coupling kinematics, the car is compatible with all common H0 track systems. Ideal for combining with other Era III tank and freight wagons - whether as part of realistic freight trains or as a solo wagon on branch lines. Perfectly suited for layouts with a focus on the German Federal Railroad of the 1950s and 1960s.
