Brawa 51268 H0 GGrhs boxcar, DR, Ep. III - Historical precision for your model railroad
The GGrhs boxcar of the German State Railroad (DR) represents a piece of railroad history of the 1950s and 1960s, when grain transportation played a central role in freight traffic in the GDR. With its authentic reproduction and the finest details, this wagon brings realism and functionality to your H0 model railway layout. An indispensable model for railroad fans who want to depict historical freight traffic true to the original.
The prototype: Optimized freight wagon for transporting grain
The GGrhs is a further development of the GGth Bromberg and was specially designed for transporting large quantities of grain. After the construction of three prototypes in 1952, series production began in 1954, with a total of 1,655 wagons being manufactured by 1957. The most important optimizations included a shorter design to make better use of the payload and smaller doors with a width of 1.5 metres to efficiently maximize the loading volume.
Thanks to tight door closures, there was no need for additional protective boards, making the wagons lighter and easier to maintain. The GGrhs wagons were used in the GDR for several decades and fulfilled their tasks with great reliability. Many of these wagons remained in service until 1994 and some were subsequently converted into rail service wagons.
Exquisite details and authentic workmanship
The model of the GGrh from Brawa sets standards in terms of detailing and precision. The fine board joints, the exact braking systems and the filigree signal brackets have been reproduced true to the original so that this car is visually and technically impressive. The precise printing and paintwork round off the prototypical appearance and make the car a highlight of any model railroad scene.
With close coupling kinematics in accordance with the NEM standard, the car can be perfectly integrated into existing train formations. Various roof running and brakeman's platforms offer additional options for customizing your layout.
Perfect for agricultural and industrial freight transport
The model is ideal for use in agricultural scenarios, especially in historical freight trains that transported grain from rural storage sites to large loading stations. The wagon also finds its place in industrial layouts or as part of authentic DR freight trains.
