Technical Features from History
The prototype dates from the early 1940s and was manufactured, among others, by the H. Fuchs railcar factory in Heidelberg. Thanks to its low axle load, the 6-axle design allowed for loaded operation even on less well-developed tracks. The tank cars were used to transport acid and could only be filled and emptied from the top, as bottom valves were not permitted for safety reasons.
Special-purpose vehicle with a clear mission
The tank consisted of ten welded panels, was insulated to a thickness of 40 mm, and was equipped with a heating system. These cars were used primarily by the chemical industry, often as privately owned cars registered with the DR.
