Brawa 58261 H0 Express Train Car Büm 233, DB, Era IV, DC Interior Lighting Product Details
Are you looking for an illuminated express passenger car for your Era IV layout with a DC power system?
Then the Brawa 58261 H0 Express Train Car Büm 233 “DB 51 80 22-40 980-0” is exactly the right model for you! With factory-installed LED interior lighting, an authentic design, and impressive attention to detail, this car brings the high-quality long-distance travel atmosphere of the Deutsche Bundesbahn directly to your model railroad layout—optimized for the 2L DC system.
Technical Details at a Glance
The Büm 233 is manufactured in H0 scale (1:87) and is designed for operation on a 2-wire DC system. The factory-installed LED interior lighting creates an atmospheric ambience. The car has a length over buffers (LOB) of 303 mm and is equipped with a NEM-compliant coupler housing and close-coupling kinematics. A solderable interface is included; however, digital or sound functions are not available.
Realistic design with many attached details
The Büm 233 express train car features 1,000-mm compartment windows and hinged folding doors, all rendered to scale. The butt-welded roofs, separately attached steps and handrails, as well as a separately mounted generator on the bogie, make this model a real eye-catcher. Rubber bead transitions are depicted with spring action, underscoring the attention to detail. The period-accurate interior has been fully recreated. Type 094/096 wheel sets with corrugated wheel discs on both sides ensure a prototypical appearance on the model railroad.
The Prototype – Comfortable Long-Distance Travel Starting in the 1950s
The Büm 233 is a representative of the Car Group 53, which was introduced into DB’s passenger service as a series production model starting in 1955. These cars were intended for use in F-trains and high-quality D-trains and set new standards in terms of comfort. For the first time, second class featured only three seats per row—a real boost in comfort. The Group 53 cars were so successful that some remained in service well into the 1990s or continued to be used in museum operations.
