Brawa 70124 H0 steam locomotive 012, DB, Ep. IV Product Details
Are you looking for a classically detailed DB express train steam locomotive for Era IV?
The Brawa 70124 H0 steam locomotive BR 012 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn is an excellently realized replica of the 012 100-4 in the condition from April 1974. With oil firing, highly detailed optics, LED lighting and PluX22 interface, this model is the ideal choice for friends of the late steam locomotive era on the Emsland line and the Marschbahn.
Model information & technical data
The locomotive is manufactured on a scale of 1:87 for the H0 gauge and measures 277.50 mm over buffers. It is intended for the 2-wire direct current system (DC) and is not digitized at the factory, but is equipped with a PluX22 interface for retrofitting a decoder and sound. The LED lighting including white light change and interior lighting ensures a harmonious operating display.
Drive & running characteristics
The drive is in the tender for optimum tractive power. A close coupling between the locomotive and tender as well as a scenery-guided standard shaft ensure realistic car transitions. The single axle bearing made of metal and the true-to-scale wheelbase guarantee excellent running characteristics. Recommended minimum radius: from R 420 mm.
Prototypical equipment & detailing
The locomotive has a highly detailed body made of impact-resistant plastic and a perforated ingot frame made of die-cast zinc. Spoked wheels, Atlas turntables, new cylinders, roller bearings and emergency oil shut-off rods on the tender make the technical implementation perfect. The filigree driving and coupling rods as well as the detailed internal drive set standards in the H0 range.
Prototype history: 012 100-4 - Steam classic of the DB
The 012 class was the last DB express steam locomotive with oil firing in scheduled service. The 012 100-4 depicted here was based at Rheine depot and operated on the Emsland line until it was decommissioned in 1975. With its striking high chimney, six sandboxes, wheel flange lubrication pump and side plates, it was a typical representative of the last years of steam traction at the DB.
For all those who want to experience steam locomotive history on the layout
The 012 100-4 brings the farewell of the express steam locomotive to your layout in a realistic way. Ideal for all those who are looking for driving dynamics, detailing and digitization options and want to recreate a classic of the German Federal Railroad era.
