Busch 8667 Framo Halbbus Feuerwehr Product Details
Framo or rather Barkas? The Barkas V901/2 van was manufactured at the VEB Barkas-Werke Karl-Marx-Stadt (Framo in Hainichen until 1956) between 1954 and 1961. Due to its origin, it was therefore often called the Framo V901/2 and was also referred to as such from 1956. While retaining the same technology, the three-quarter ton Framo V901 was redesigned externally in 1954 and further developed into the V901/2 type.
Just like its predecessor, the popular van was available in different versions, such as a panel van, half-bus, bus, flatbed truck and with special bodies for the police, post office and fire department. The top speed of the van, styled in the spirit of the 1950s, was 75-82 km/h. Although this could not meet domestic demand for the van, it was nevertheless exported to Holland, Belgium, Finland and Hungary, and even there the demand was not nearly met. Due to an acute shortage of vans, numerous V901/2s were still in everyday use in the GDR even at the end of the 1980s. Worn or damaged vehicles could be repaired at short notice thanks to the continuous production of spare parts and the proven frame construction. A total of 25,604 V901/2s were produced.
