Busch 8685 Framo V901/2 Bus, Leichenwagen Product Details
Framo or rather Barkas??? In the years 1954-1961, the small transporter Barkas V901/2 was produced in the VEB Barkas-Werke Karl-Marx-Stadt (until 1956 Framo in Hainichen). Because of its origin, it was therefore more often named Framo V901/2, and from 1956 it was also referred to as such. While retaining the technology, the exterior of the three-quarter-ton Framo V901 of the then GDR vehicle construction was redesigned in 1954 and further developed into the V901/2 type.
Just like its predecessor, the popular van was available in various versions, such as a panel van, half-bus, bus, flatbed truck and with special bodies for the police, postal service and various trade organizations. The top speed of the transporter, styled in the spirit of the 1950s, was 75-82 km/h. Although this did not meet domestic demand for the Transporter, it was nevertheless exported to Holland, Belgium, Finland and Hungary, and even there demand was not nearly met.
Due to an acute shortage of vans, numerous V901/2s were still in everyday use in the GDR even in the late 1980s. Worn-out or damaged vehicles could be repaired at short notice thanks to ongoing spare parts production and the proven frame design. A total of 25,604 units of the V901/2 type were produced.
