Electrotren HE2035HM H0 Steam Locomotive 5001 "Santa Fe," RENFE, Era III, HM-DC Sound
Are you looking for a particularly impressive H0 steam locomotive that combines Spanish railway history, sound, a smoke function, and high-quality metal construction? The Electrotren HE2035HM H0 Steam Locomotive 5001 "Santa Fe," RENFE, Era III, HM-DC Sound is a heavy tender-type steam locomotive featuring vintage lamps, a coal tender, a smoke system, and a BLE decoder. This model is designed for discerning model railroading enthusiasts and collectors seeking a powerful RENFE steam locomotive with advanced technology and an extraordinary real-life history.
Heavy RENFE Tender-Towed Locomotive “Santa Fe”
The Santa Fe locomotives were among the most impressive steam locomotives in Spain. Originally intended for heavy freight service, they were designed by La Maquinista Terrestre y Marítima. The locomotives were designed for demanding routes and symbolized the technical prowess of the Spanish railway industry.
The model depicts the RENFE 5001 “Santa Fe” in Era III. The design, featuring old-style lamps and a coal tender, gives the locomotive a particularly classic appearance. With a length over buffers of 300 mm, the model has an impressive presence on an H0 layout and serves as a striking focal point in historic freight train or collection scenes.
Sound, Smoke, and Moving Engine
The Electrotren HE2035HM is digitally equipped and features sound as well as a smoke generator. The smoke generator operates with distilled water, while a wheel rotation sensor synchronizes the sound with the steam emission. This creates a particularly lifelike effect during operation.
Another highlight is the moving connecting rod system for a third cylinder, which is visible from below. Together with the metal undercarriage and metal boiler, a five-pole motor with a flywheel, cab lighting, and a flashing light in the firebox, this creates a steam locomotive model that is both technically and visually very appealing.
Historical Use of the Santa Fe Locomotives
The first locomotives were built by RENFE in 1942 and later classified under the new numbering system as the 151-3101 through 3122 series. They were used for heavy freight service, including on challenging sections of track toward Galicia. Improvements included electric lighting, automatic coal-loading systems on some units, and later the conversion of many locomotives to fuel oil.
After years of service in heavy freight train operations, the locomotives were later transferred to other depots and remained in service until 1968. Today, the preserved 3101 at the Vilanova Railway Museum serves as a reminder of this extraordinary locomotive series.
For collectors and discerning H0 layout builders
The Electrotren HE2035HM H0 Steam Locomotive 5001 “Santa Fe” is an excellent choice for model railroaders looking for a large RENFE steam locomotive with extensive features. Sound, smoke, LED lighting, interior lighting, and the high-quality metal construction make this model a special highlight for historic H0 train sets.
Add this impressive Santa Fe steam locomotive to your collection and bring a piece of Spanish heavy-haul steam locomotive history—complete with impressive features—to your model railroad layout.
