The W50 was designed in over 70 basic variants with various bodies. In addition to the flatbed vehicle, the tipper version was the most widespread and produced in the highest quantities from Ludwigsfelde. The extended forwarding cab was usually combined with the three-way tipper chassis by the VEBs or combines themselves. The longer cab offered the driver more space and could also accommodate a folding couch behind the row of seats. The prototype was converted in 1990 at the fire department in Euba, first to a TSF and later to an auxiliary fire truck, pulling a portable fire pump trailer.
