ESU diesel locomotive 211 058-3 - H0, DB, Era IV, DC/AC with sound
The powerful class 211 diesel locomotive from ESU impresses with the finest technology, precise attention to detail and universal usability. The 211 058-3 model in the classic German Federal Railroad look of Era IV faithfully recreates the atmosphere of the 1970s on your model railway layout - with sound, smoke, light and outstanding build quality.
Design & workmanship
The model has a solid housing and a metal frame. The filigree handlebars, openwork steps, fine grille elements and detailed driver's cabs underline the exceptional build quality. The ocean blue/beige color scheme of Era IV has been implemented exactly and looks particularly authentic.
Special technical features
A powerful bell-shaped armature motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth running characteristics. All four axles are driven by cardan and worm gears, two of them with traction tires. The LokSound 5 decoder offers a wide range of functions, including realistic sounds, synchronously controlled smoke generator, curve sensor with squealing noises and brake sparks. The locomotive is designed for direct and alternating current operation and can be changed over using a slide switch.
Historical background
The class 211, also known as the V100.10, was a universally applicable diesel locomotive of the German Federal Railroad. It was used on branch lines, in light freight traffic and for shunting. The locomotive number 211 058-3 is exemplary for this series in the transition period of the German Federal Railroad between the economic miracle and modern electrification.
Compatibility & possible uses
The locomotive is suitable for both direct and alternating current systems and can therefore be used particularly flexibly in mixed layouts. It is compatible with all common digital command stations, including RailComPlus® and mfx®, and is ideal for digital model railway layouts that rely on realistic operating behavior.
