ESU 31651 H0 Dampflok 80 039, Museumseisenbahn Hamm, Ep. VI, DC+AC-Sound Product Details
Legendary museum locomotive 80 039 in a model
The ESU 31651 H0 steam locomotive 80 039 brings a piece of living railroad history into the present. As an authentic reproduction of the locomotive of the Hamm Museum Railway, the model shows the condition around the year 2010 - a time when this class could no longer be admired in daily shunting service, but in museum operation. Locomotive 80 039 is one of the few surviving engines of this class and is exemplary of the robust and reliable steam locomotives of the late 1920s.
The class 80 was originally developed by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft for heavy shunting service. The three-axle design, compact construction and a powerful boiler characterized this standard steam locomotive. Even though its service life in regular rail operations ended in the mid-1960s, it lived on in museum operations such as in Hamm. There, these machines were not only used as exhibits, but were also actively used in front of museum and special trains.
Top-class technology in a collector's design
The 80 039 model from ESU impresses with its outstanding technical features, which combine modern digital functions with the look of a classic steam locomotive. Operation is possible in both two-wire and center conductor systems - a real advantage for model railroaders with mixed layouts. The powerful bell-shaped armature motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth running characteristics. A special highlight is the synchronized double smoke generator, which produces realistic cylinder steam in sync with the sound effect.
The locomotive is visually impressive with its black paintwork in typical museum condition. The enclosed etched signs for self-assembly and the locomotive crew in the driver's cab round off the high-quality appearance. Thanks to the integrated digital remote-controlled couplers, the LED lighting with white light change and the chassis lighting, every shunting run becomes an impressive experience.
