Fleischmann 6270124 N Steuerwagen DB Netz Ep.VI DCC Product Details
Fleischmann 6270124 N Class 721.1 DB InfraGO Ep. VI DCC Measurement and Control Car – Modern Rail Service with Digital Signal Changes
Would you like to build an authentic Deutsche Bahn measurement and inspection train on your N-gauge model railroad layout? The Fleischmann 6270124 Series 721.1 Measurement and Control Car from DB InfraGO brings a special Era VI railroad service vehicle to your layout. With its distinctive control console, interior fittings, and a factory-installed functional decoder for the white-red light sequence, this model is an interesting addition to modern measurement trains. A particularly practical feature: The direction-dependent light sequence works in both analog and digital operation.
Prototype: DB InfraGO measurement control car
Survey and test trains perform important tasks in monitoring and maintaining the German rail network. They are used to examine the condition of the infrastructure, inspect technical equipment, and test new systems under real operating conditions. The Class 721.1 measurement control car is used for such specialized tasks and, together with special measurement and laboratory cars, can form a complete test train. Among other things, the track, overhead lines, signaling systems, and other railway equipment are examined. Thanks to its integrated driver’s cab, the control car enables reversible train operation, thereby contributing to the flexible deployment of measurement trains on the rail network.
BR 721.1 Measurement Control Car – Special Vehicle for Reversible Train Operation
A distinctive feature of the Fleischmann 6270124 is its design as a measurement control car with its own driver’s cab. On the full-scale prototype, appropriately equipped measurement trains can thus change their direction of travel without having to move the locomotive to the other end of the train. This mode of operation offers significant advantages, particularly during test and measurement runs that repeatedly cover specific sections of track. The Fleischmann model reproduces this interesting vehicle design on a 1:160 scale and is ideal for depicting modern Deutsche Bahn rail services.
Model Technology & Factory-Installed Functional Decoder
The Fleischmann measurement control car comes equipped with a functional decoder right from the factory. This decoder controls the direction-dependent lighting changes and enables operation on both analog DC layouts and compatible digital model railroad layouts. The functional decoder controls the car’s lighting; the train set is powered by a separately operated locomotive. For coupling with compatible N-gauge vehicles, the model features NEM 355 coupling sockets with close-coupling kinematics. With a length over buffers of 165 mm, the control car can be seamlessly integrated into modern measurement train sets.
LED Lighting & Retrofitable Interior Lighting
A special highlight of the Fleischmann 6270124 is its factory-installed LED front lighting. When running with the control car in the lead, the model displays a white three-light headlight, while two red tail lights are displayed when running in the opposite direction. The integrated function decoder enables this lighting change in both analog and digital operation. Additionally, the car features an interior. For an even more realistic effect, the interior lighting can be retrofitted using Fleischmann lighting accessory 945301. This creates an impressive atmosphere, especially during test runs at dusk or in nighttime station scenes. The interior lighting is not factory-installed.
Matching Accessories & Applications
The Fleischmann Measurement Control Car is ideal for modern N-gauge model railroad layouts focused on rail operations, railway infrastructure, and Era VI. A particularly interesting addition is the Fleischmann 6260125 three-car DB Netz measurement car set, featuring two Bim 547.5-class measurement cars and one Dms 905-class baggage car. Together, they allow you to assemble a variety of measurement train sets. A suitable locomotive for this set is, for example, the Fleischmann BR 120 160-7 from DB Netz AG, which is available as an analog version under item number 7560104 and with digital sound under item number 7570104. This allows for interesting operational scenarios such as test and acceptance runs, measurement runs on electrified main lines, or the staging of a measurement train at the station.
A Special Model for Collectors & Railroad Enthusiasts
The Fleischmann 6270124 brings an extraordinary vehicle of modern railway operations—the Class 721.1 measurement control car—to your N-gauge layout. The integrated function decoder, direction-dependent LED lighting, and retrofittable interior lighting make this model particularly appealing to prototypical model railroading enthusiasts.
