The German Federal Railroad's 065 001 steam locomotive has a new road number, silver boiler rings, and a die-cast metal chassis. The class 65 was part of the new construction program of the Deutsche Bundesbahn and was first delivered in 1951. Its characteristic appearance gave the machine a look that was both powerful and elegant. Its preferred field of operation as a passenger train tender locomotive was suburban and light rail service in the Ruhr area as well as on the Odenwaldbahn and the Überwaldbahn. Some of the locomotives were later equipped with push-pull control. The 18 locomotives reached a top speed of 85 km/h with an output of 1,089 kW. In 1972, the last locomotive ran on the siding.
