Description

Fleischmann 714575 steam locomotive 01 102, DB, Ep. III Product Details

About the model: The 01 102 steam locomotive is in German Federal Railroad design and is from Era III. The locomotive is 150 mm long (length over buffers) and is equipped with a digital interface. The model is factory equipped with a sound decoder. It is driven by 2 axles and 2 are equipped with traction tires. All other details about the model can be found under the features.

About the prototype: The class 01 two-cylinder locomotives are considered to be the first express locomotives that were built after the standard construction program. The DR retained the original design with the large Wagner smoke deflectors and the air and feed pumps in the smokebox niches after World War II. DB, on the other hand, moved them to the center of the car over time, thus achieving a better view of the track. Almost at the same time, it replaced the large smoke deflectors with those of the Witte design and changed most of the circulating plates. The first construction lots were equipped with leading wheels of 800 mm diameter and were approved for 120 km/h. From 01 102 onwards, 1,000 mm diameter leading wheels and reinforced brakes were used, which increased the maximum permitted speed to 130 km/h. The machines ran until 1939. Until 1939, the locomotives ran with the riveted 2'2' T 32 type tenders. After this date, new deliveries received the welded 2'2' T 34 tenders, and the locomotives already in service were gradually converted accordingly.
