Fleischmann 725170 Doppel-Diesell.BR288 rt.SND.

In 1941 and 1942, a total of four type D 311 double locomotives were put into service by the German Wehrmacht. They had been built for transporting heavy rail guns. Two locomotives, the V 188 001 a/b and the V 188 002 a/b continued to be used by the German Federal Railroad after the war. A third locomotive served as a spare parts donor. They proved themselves in heavy freight train and pushback service, mainly on the Spessart ramp. After generator damage, V 188 001 had to be withdrawn as early as 1968. V 188 002, later 288 002, was still in service in the Franconian region until 1972. In 1973, both machines were scrapped.
