Description

Fleischmann 7560003 N electric locomotive 101 019-8, DBAG, Ep.VI 'Sächsische Schweiz' Product Details

About the original: In the mid-1990s, the DB procured the class 101 as a replacement for the approximately 25-year-old class 103 locomotives to replace them in fast passenger service. Of the 145 class 101s produced, the first 3 were painted in oriental red, all the others in the usual DB traffic red. As with most locomotives of the 1990s, the locomotive body has a wide sloping front, which was intended to ensure an optimum mix of aerodynamics and cost-effective production. The bogie covers of the BR 101 are one of its most striking features, as they reach down to the axle bearings. The BR 101 was mainly used for IC traffic, e.g. from Hamburg to Constance, but some BR 101s were also used for freight traffic for DB Cargo. With the retirement of the IC1, the class 101 will also be increasingly retired from 2023, as there is no need for the class 101 in freight traffic either.

About the model: With this model, Fleischmann is reproducing a class 101 with a special paint scheme. The locomotive carries the message of climate-friendly and, above all, car-free tourism on the large side surfaces. In addition, the Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany and the Hohe Tauern National Park (Carinthia) in Austria are depicted on the sides, both of which are very easy to reach by train. In addition to the wonderfully detailed motifs, the model offers many other visual highlights. These include detailed roof electronics, filigree fan grilles and an accurately reproduced chassis with a wealth of details. But the model also has a lot to offer technically. This includes a 3-pole motor with flywheel mass, which drives all 4 axles of the model and thus ensures excellent running characteristics and great power transmission to the track. In order to make the model's extensive light and sound functions usable, it has an interface in accordance with NEM 651, which enables the uncomplicated retrofitting of a decoder.
