In 2017, the long-distance bus provider Flixbus entered the rail business under the name Flixtrain. It focused primarily on passenger transport between urban centers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company temporarily ceased operations in Germany on 19 March 2020, only to resume operations at the end of July 2020, in part with largely modernized coaches. Lemke is depicting these modernized passenger cars with a new design in this set. The set is completed by a class 193 electric locomotive in the Flixtrain design. These can mainly be found on the routes between Hamburg and Cologne, as well as Berlin and Stuttgart.
