In the 1970s, the railroad industry developed an innovative type of wagon for the safe transportation of moisture-sensitive rolled steel: the Shis 708 telescopic hood wagon - known as the Shimmns 708 from 1987. These vehicles are characterized by their three interlocking hoods, which reliably protect the load from the weather. The Dutch State Railways (NS) also used these wagons, including the Shimmns 358 presented here in Era V design.

The 0-gauge model impresses with its faithful reproduction of the prototype. The non-sliding hoods are delicately designed, the five loading recesses are indicated in the wagon frame.
