LGB 26591 G steam locomotive 99 5901, HSB, Ep VI, DC-MFX-sound

The Nordhausen-Wernigeroder Eisenbahngesellschaft (NWE) introduced a series of twelve Mallet locomotives into service between 1897 and 1900. Nine of them were built by the Jung company in Jungenthal, while the Mecklenburgische Waggonfabrik-Aktiengesellschaft in Güstrow supplied the remaining three. With an output of 255 hp and a top speed of 30 km/h, these 34-ton locomotives reliably met all requirements. During the First World War, six locomotives were unfortunately handed over to the army field railroads and never returned. Another locomotive was taken out of service after a serious accident, so that the remaining five locomotives were taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1949 as 99 5901 to 99 5905.

After the new locomotives came to the Harz in the 1950s, the Mallet locomotives were transferred to the Selketalbahn. Two of the locomotives, 99 5904 and 99 5905, were scrapped, while the other three locomotives remained in the fleet. The 99 5901 and 99 5902 remained in service with the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB) for some time. Today, these two, as well as 99 5903, are no longer operational in Wernigerode.

The model of the steam locomotive 99 5901 of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways presents itself as a finely detailed model in heavy metal construction with many applied details. The locomotive is driven by two high-performance motors, with all driving wheel sets being driven by coupling rods. Doors to the driver's cab and smokebox door are functional. The vehicle has a finely detailed Mallet type running gear with numerous details such as a complete linkage and drive for the lubrication pump. The true-to-original black/red paint scheme and lettering for Era VI correspond to the current condition of the locomotive on the HSB. Equipped with an mfx/DCC decoder, the model offers many light and sound functions such as headlights, cab lighting, engine lighting, running sounds, a whistle and bell that can be activated by a reed switch, and much more. The driving sound is also functional in analog operation. A built-in smoke generator with wheel-synchronized steam output, cylinder steam and steam output at the whistle completes the authentic model. There are digitally switchable LGB system couplers at both ends that can be removed. All of this makes this high-end model an impressive collector's item for fans of historic steam locomotives.
