The center conductor cleaning car removes stubborn oil and dirt residues, deposits caused by friction from traction tires, and layers of oxidation. This improves current collection from the center conductor and supports trouble-free operation on your model railroad layout.

Center Conductor Cleaning for Hard-to-Reach Areas of the Layout

Manual cleaning is often difficult, particularly in tunnel sections, shadow stations, or on track sections located beneath the overhead wire. Thanks to the cleaning technology integrated into a mobile rail vehicle, even such areas can be easily reached.

The car has no independent drive system and is pulled or pushed by standard traction vehicles. The cleaning system is powered by the traction voltage and operates with an oscillating polishing head mounted in a bogie.

SSF-09 Control Electronics with Automatic Start/Stop Function

The integrated SSF-09 control electronics operate based on movement. When the car is moved along a powered track, the cleaning mechanism turns on automatically. If the activated cleaning car comes to a stop—for example, at a signal stop—the cleaning mechanism turns off automatically.

A battery station carried on the car provides backup power to the cleaning system’s motor during brief power interruptions. This ensures that the cleaning effect is maintained even on soiled or temporarily de-energized track sections.

Problem-Oriented Cleaning of Point Contacts

The center-track-guided and height-adjustable polishing mechanism continuously acts on the center conductor. This highly efficiently removes layers of oxide and dirt from the point contacts. The center conductor cleaner comes standard with 1500-grit cleaning strips.
