Description

Märklin 39092 H0 E-Lok Reihe 1189, ÖBB, Ep. IV, AC-MFX-Sound Product Details

Are you looking for an Austrian crocodile with AC MFX sound for your H0 layout?

The Märklin 39092 H0 Class 1189 Electric Locomotive, ÖBB, Era IV, AC MFX Sound is an impressive model for model railroaders who are looking for a classic Austrian electric locomotive with a distinctive design and extensive digital equipment. The prototype is the class 1189 electric locomotive, known as the Austrian Crocodile. The locomotive has a basic fir green paint scheme and has the road number 1189.08.

The operating condition shown is from the mid/end of the 1970s. This means that the model fits into Era IV and is especially suitable for H0 layouts with Austrian railroad operations. The combination of crocodile design, metal construction, mfx+ digital decoder, sound and many switchable light functions makes this locomotive a special eye-catcher.

Prototype history of the ÖBB class 1189

As early as the 1920s, the Austrian Federal Railways decided to electrify the most important lines as quickly as possible. Seven mountain express locomotives of the 1100 series were developed especially for the ramps in the mountains and delivered to the BBÖ in 1923/24. These locomotives were later operated by ÖBB as the 1089 series.

The 20,350 mm long locomotives consisted of two short-coupled power cars, on which a short machine bridge with transformer, slide switchgear and two driver's cabs were articulated. Because of their long, low and narrow front hoods on the driving frames, the name "crocodile" quickly became commonplace. Since these locomotives proved to be very successful, nine replicas were delivered in 1926/27 as 1100.101-109, at the ÖBB as 1189.01-09. These achieved a higher speed due to a modified transmission ratio and were equipped with more powerful motors.

Märklin 39092 H0 Class 1189 Electric Locomotive

The model is equipped with an mfx+ digital decoder and has extensive sound and light functions. The controlled high-efficiency propulsion with a flywheel is installed centrally. Two driving wheels in each of the two driving frames are driven by cardan shafts. The model also has traction tires.

The articulated chassis with cornering capability underlines the special character of the Austrian crocodile. The minimum passable radius is 360 mm. The length over buffers is approx. 23.4 cm.

Light functions and digital equipment

The locomotive has a triple headlight that changes over with the direction of travel and a red marker light. This lighting is in conventional operation and can be switched digitally. The lighting can also be switched to a white marker light.

The headlights on locomotive end 2 and locomotive end 1 can each be switched off separately in digital operation. If the headlights on both sides of the locomotive are switched off, the shunting light function is available on both sides, with 1x white on each side of the locomotive. The cab lighting and the engine room lighting can also be controlled separately in digital operation. Maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs are used for the lighting.

Highly detailed metal design

The Märklin 39092 is a highly detailed metal version. Many separately applied details characterize the high-quality overall impression. These include the cooling tubes for the transformer oil. The model also has a replica of the driver's cab and engine room.

The detailed roof equipment completes the authentic effect of the locomotive. Brake hoses and imitation screw couplings are included. If you are looking for an Austrian crocodile with a fir green paint scheme, mfx+ decoder, sound, metal construction, and many switchable functions, the Märklin 39092 H0 Class 1189 Electric Locomotive is a very suitable choice. Add this striking Era IV ÖBB locomotive to your H0 layout now.
