Description

Märklin 42514 H0 Schnellzugwagen-Set zur steam locomotive BR 19.0, DR, Ep. III Product Details

Märklin 42514 H0 Express Train Car Set for the BR 19.0, DR, Ep. III Steam Locomotive - Prototypical Addition for the "Sachsenstolz"

The Märklin 42514 express train car set is a perfect and detailed addition to the famous class 19.0 "Sachsenstolz" steam locomotive. The four express train passenger cars included in the set reflect the condition of the early 1950s in the GDR and are based on the prototype of the D 11 Dresden-Warnemünde train route, including the Praha-København passenger car. All of the cars are painted in a bottle green base color and have precise details such as ladders, attached grab irons and printed serial numbers.

True-to-original car types from the years 1923 to 1930

The set consists of a Pw4ü-29 baggage car, a C4ü-28 express train car (3rd class, classification number 1), a C4ü-23 "Hecht" express train car (3rd class, classification number 2) and a mixed-class ABC4ü-29 (1st/2nd/3rd class, classification number 4), which represents the international course car. These models represent various designs of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, including the typical standard coaches of 1928-30 and the characteristic "Hecht" coach of 1923 with its swan-neck bogies.

All of the wagons are precisely manufactured on a scale of 1:87 and impress with numerous prototypical details, including multi-colored interiors and filigree bogies. The short bellows included in the set enable a visually appealing connection between the carriages.

Technically sophisticated and versatile for retrofitting

The model is designed for a minimum radius of 360 mm and can therefore also be used on compact layouts. The 1928-30 type cars are prepared for the installation of 72024 current-conducting close couplers, 73410/73411 LED interior lighting and 73406 pickups. The "Hecht" car can be equipped with 72022 current-conducting close couplers and 73404 pickups. This technical preparation enables simple upgrading and integration into existing systems with interior lighting.

Optimum protection and high-quality packaging

Each of the four trolleys is individually packaged and also housed in sturdy outer packaging. This not only protects the set during transportation, but also during long-term storage. With a total length of approx. 97 cm over buffers, the train looks prototypical and impressive on the layout - especially in combination with the matching BR 19.0 steam locomotive.

Frequently asked questions

Question: Which coaches are included in the Märklin 42514 express train coach set?
Answer:

The set contains four H0 coaches: one Pw4ü-29 baggage coach, one C4ü-28 third-class express coach, one C4ü-23 “Hecht” third-class coach and one ABC4ü-29 mixed first-, second- and third-class coach. The models feature printed coach sequence numbers and a bottle-green finish.

Question: Which historical train formation can be recreated with this set?
Answer:

The coaches represent express train D 11 from Dresden to Warnemünde during the early part of Era III in the early 1950s. The mixed-class coach represents the Praha–København through coach. Märklin Class 19.0 “Sachsenstolz” steam locomotive 38190 is the matching locomotive, while additional coach 42522 can be used to add the missing coach number 3.

Question: How much layout space does the coach set require?
Answer:

The total length over the buffers is approximately 97 cm. Platforms, sidings and hidden storage tracks should be longer when the matching locomotive is added. The minimum operating radius is 360 mm, allowing the set to run on many relatively compact H0 layouts.

Question: Which visual details do the coaches offer?
Answer:

The coaches are produced in the full 1:87 length scale and feature partially multicoloured interiors, separately fitted grab rails, access ladders and printed route boards. The standard-design coaches have heavy Görlitz II bogies, while the “Hecht” coach uses swan-neck bogies. Short replacement gangway bellows are also included.

Question: Is interior lighting installed, and can the set be used on two-rail layouts?
Answer:

Interior lighting is not factory-installed, but the coaches are prepared for compatible LED lighting, current-conducting close couplers and pickup shoes. Some of the required components differ between the standard-design coaches and the “Hecht” coach. The set is supplied for the Märklin three-rail system; suitable insulated wheelsets are required for operation on two-rail DC layouts.
