Description

Märklin 55128 1 steam locomotive 18 314, DR, Ep. III, DC-MFX-Sound Product Details

Märklin 55128 Gauge 1 Steam Locomotive 18 314 "Laubfrosch" - DR, Era III with mfx+ Sound

Märklin is putting a spectacular model of the 18 314 express train steam locomotive in 1 Gauge on the rails with the Märklin 55128. This locomotive was not only a technical milestone, but also unique in appearance. Known under the nickname "Laubfrosch", it stood out from everyday life in the GDR with its bright green paintwork. The model shows the operating condition around 1962/1963 and is based on the prototype of the German Reichsbahn of the GDR (DR), used by the Halle Research Institute (VES-M).

The original locomotive - a former Baden IV h - was converted into an experimental locomotive in the 1960s and equipped with a Reko boiler, partial cladding, Witte wind deflectors and a striking scissor pantograph. With an output of almost 2000 hp and a top speed of 150 km/h, it was one of the most powerful steam locomotives in the GDR.

The model is a completely new development in highly detailed all-metal construction. The running gear, superstructure, boiler and driver's cab are made of die-cast zinc, while many of the attached parts such as pipes, fittings and handlebars are made of brass. The locomotive is equipped with an mfx-compatible decoder of the latest generation with up to 32 switchable functions, including a current buffer for uninterrupted runs.

A special highlight is the integrated smoke generator with wheel-synchronized steam output, multi-stage cylinder steam at the front and rear and a steam whistle. The smoke box door and the dome cover can be opened, as can the driver's cab doors. There are finely worked details in the driver's cab, including a built-in engine driver and stoker figure.

The lighting is provided by warm white LEDs and includes a three-light headlamp, switchable red tail light, engine and driver's cab lighting. A special function allows the engine driver to realistically operate the controller in the model - controlled by a servo motor. The control can be switched digitally in three stages (forward, reverse, continuous operation).

The locomotive is equipped with a remote-controlled Telex coupler at the rear and a screw coupler at the front (replacement with a screw coupler for the rear is included). All driving axles are driven by a powerful motor. The minimum passable radius is 1,020 mm. The length over buffers is approx. 73.8 cm and the model has a proud weight of approx. 9.2 kg.

A comprehensive equipment package with screw couplers, steam oil, gloves and a black painted aluminum base for showcase presentation is included. The Märklin 55128 is a real collector's item for everyone who appreciates technical sophistication, historical authenticity, and the finest art of model building.
