The Piko 21003 H0 Class E410 electric locomotive brings the famous European locomotive of the German Federal Railroad (DB) to your H0 layout as an AC version. This multi-system locomotive, which was used in Era IV (1968-1990), stands for cross-border traffic and technical innovation. With a factory-integrated sound decoder and state-of-the-art technology, this locomotive will be a highlight on your model railroad layout.
The prototype of the Piko BR E410 electric locomotive
The class E410, later known as the class 184, was developed at the end of the 1960s to avoid time-consuming locomotive changes at the borders of Europe. Its ability to run under different overhead line voltages in Germany, France, Belgium and Luxembourg made it a pioneer locomotive in European rail transportation.
Initially, the BR E410 connected Germany and Belgium with journeys between Cologne and Liège. After its relocation to Saarbrücken, connections between Trier, Luxembourg and France were added. The locomotives were also used in front of express trains in Saarland and the Palatinate. Two of the five locomotives built are now preserved in museums and can be viewed in the DB Museum Koblenz-Lützel and the German Museum of Technology in Berlin.
