With the Piko 21721 BR 388, PIKO brings the powerful Traxx 3 locomotive of the 187 series in a fully digitized AC version. The model comes in the Metrans Cargo design and is equipped with a factory-installed PluX22 sound decoder that is mfx®-capable - ideal for use on Märklin layouts.

Digital power with hybrid prototype

The locomotive has digitally switchable cab lighting, a finely detailed engine room and four realistic single-arm pantographs made of metal. The smooth side surfaces and accurate paint scheme make the model an eye-catcher on any modern layout. The integrated sound decoder provides realistic operating sounds and automatically recognizes itself on mfx®-compatible command stations.

Traxx 3 - hybrid technology in the model

The prototype, the Bombardier Traxx 3 (class 187), is equipped with a 180 kW diesel engine for travel without overhead contact lines. Metrans uses these locomotives for high-frequency container connections in international freight traffic - the ideal addition for modern model railroad scenarios in Era VI.

Use on AC layouts & flexibility

This model is ideally suited for Märklin systems and runs safely on radii from 358 mm. The locomotive can be flexibly combined with container cars or block trains thanks to the NEM shaft and close coupler link. Ideal for everyone who wants to realistically implement modern logistics.
