PIKO 21793 - H0 Electric locomotive 243 019 WFL, S-Bahn Leipzig, era VI, alternating current with sound
With the Piko 21793, PIKO presents an impressive novelty 2026: The electric locomotive 243 019 from WFL (Wedler Franz Logistik GmbH) appears as an AC version in the modern design of the Leipzig S-Bahn. This Era VI model impresses with its eye-catching paintwork, precise detailing and sophisticated technical equipment - including a factory-installed sound decoder with a large loudspeaker.
The locomotive combines classic GDR locomotive technology with current use in local S-Bahn services. As a model, it not only brings fresh color contrast to the layout, but also modern sound - ideal for all those who want to represent today's private railroad and regional traffic on Märklin-compatible layouts.
AC operation & digital sound equipment
The locomotive is designed for 3-wire alternating current operation (AC) and has a factory-installed PluX22 sound decoder. This provides realistic operating sounds such as starting, traction motor humming, brake squealing or the signal horn. The integrated loudspeaker ensures powerful sound reproduction - ideal for digitally controlled model railway layouts with the Märklin system.
Modern lighting & digital functions
The LED lighting offers a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel. The model also has digitally switchable cab lighting - ideal for realistic scenes in the station, staging yard or for night-time operation. All functions can be conveniently controlled via the digital command station.
Technical data & compatibility
With a length over buffers of 191 mm, the model fits perfectly on all standard H0 AC tracks. The minimum radius is 358 mm. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link and can be easily integrated into modern train formations - ideal for local traffic scenarios with double-decker or push-pull trains.
Private railroad in Era VI
In today's railroad operations, the class 243 - formerly a typical DR locomotive - plays a new role in the service of private railroad companies. It is used by the WFL in the Leipzig region under the name S-Bahn Leipzig. The model reflects this modern appearance in every detail - a real eye-catcher for contemporary model railway scenarios of the present.
