Piko 28325 H0 Set of 2 1st/2nd Class and 2nd Class Passenger Coaches, DB, Ep. IV: The classic "Silberlinge" of the German Federal Railroad
The Piko 28325 H0 set of 2 brings two of the most famous German Federal Railroad commuter cars from Era IV to your model railroad layout. The combination of a silver n car with 1st/2nd class and a variant of the Bm 232 in 2nd class impresses with its timeless look, high-quality workmanship and excellent running characteristics. These cars are ideal for an authentic depiction of local transportation in the 1970s and 1980s.
The prototype: DB silver coaches and Bm 232
The silver n-cars, also known as "Silberlinge", shaped the image of local transport in Germany for decades. Due to their robust construction and their characteristic aluminum surface, they were a popular vehicle in passenger transport. Combined with the variant of the Bm 232, this set offers a typical composition from Era IV that perfectly reproduces the regional and local trains of this era.
The DB in Era IV: Variety and standardization
Era IV (1965-1990) was a phase of transition and standardization at the Deutsche Bundesbahn. In addition to new locomotives and wagon types, existing vehicles such as the n-wagons were also modernized and designed in uniform colour schemes. Silberlinge were a central component of these developments and symbolize the practical and functional character of local transport in this era.
Piko: Precision and quality
With this set of 2,Piko is setting standards in terms of attention to detail and quality of workmanship. The models are precisely manufactured on a scale of 1:87 and offer a realistic reproduction of the proportions of the original carriages. High-quality running characteristics ensure reliable operation, while the models also impress when stationary thanks to their detailed appearance. Interior lighting can easily be retrofitted for an individual design.
Technical features and equipment
The set has an overall length over buffers (LüP) of 606 mm and is suitable for tracks with a minimum radius of 358 mm. Both cars are equipped with an NEM shaft and a close coupler link, which allows easy handling and flexible application possibilities.
