With the new design of the E 17, PIKO is consistently continuing its successful model series of historic electric locomotives. The powerful old electric locomotive of the German Federal Railways is presented in the model in the modernized version of Era IV. Changes such as new front windows, revised roof lines and modified front ends have been transferred to the H0 model in a prototypical manner. The sound version has a factory-installed PIKO sound decoder and offers everything a model railroader's heart desires with fine LED lighting, excellent running characteristics and authentic design.

The prototype: E 17 - prestige and power

Developed from the 1920s onwards, the E 17 was one of the first express electric locomotives in Germany. In the modernized DB version of Era IV, it was used in passenger and freight service until the 1980s. The replica in Era IV condition shows the locomotive with all the modifications that characterized its use in the post-war period.

Compatibility & possible uses

The E 17 is ideal for use in front of express and passenger trains of the 1960s and 70s. It can be excellently combined with conversion cars, silver cars or classic express train cars. Fully digitally controllable on 2L DC systems with DCC control centers.
