The Piko 51831 Class E52 electric locomotive shows a traditional locomotive of the German Federal Railroad in its typical Era III design with black running gear. Originally designed as an EP 5 for the Bavarian group administration, it was in heavy passenger train service for many years and is one of the most striking old electric locomotives in DB history. This H0 model impresses with its excellent detailing, high operational reliability and modern digitization options.

Technical monument with character

The E52 series impresses with its continuous long frame, the beveled box ends and the unusual engine arrangement with two engine groups. PIKO has faithfully reproduced these features in the printed version with black running gear. Filigree engravings, individually applied details and a true-to-scale color scheme round off the overall historical impression.

Digitally prepared for decoder and sound retrofitting

Thanks to the integrated NEM 658 PluX22 interface, the model can be easily digitized. The PIKO sound decoder (#56574) can also be retrofitted for an acoustically realistic experience. The cab and engine room lighting can be switched separately in digital mode - a special highlight when running at twilight or at night.

With four traction tires, the model offers excellent tractive power - ideal for long trains on main lines of the 1950s and 60s. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link so that prototypical train formation and reliable operation can be easily implemented.
