With the Piko 51833 BR E52 electric locomotive in the version with black running gear, PIKO brings an impressive model of a real DRG classic in the appearance of the German Federal Railroad in Era III. This AC version is factory-equipped with a powerful sound decoder and impresses with its concise design, technical sophistication and high prototypical fidelity.

Historic prototype with a striking design

The original EP 5, later known as the E52, was specially developed from 1922 for the Bavarian group administration of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Its long frame, the massive box body with beveled corners and the drive system divided into two groups of engines made it a striking representative of the heavy electric passenger train service. After the war, 29 machines were transferred to the DB, where they were in service until 1973.
