With the Piko 52151 BR 798 + VS 998 railcar set in the mint green livery of Era V, PIKO presents a modern version of the legendary rail bus - known as the "Ulmer Spatz" - for your H0 AC layout. In this version, the classic of the branch line celebrates its comeback in the modern guise of DB AG and impresses with its technical sophistication, detailed design and a harmonious sound experience ex works.

Detailed realization of the DB classic

The VT 98/VS 98 was in service on DB main and branch lines for decades. In this Era V version, the rail bus is painted in mint green with the DB AG logo - a typical appearance of the 1990s. Despite the elaborate technical equipment, the model allows a clear view through the passenger compartments - a rare detail in this vehicle class.

The railcar is driven by a powerful miniature motor with a flywheel, which, together with a factory-integrated buffer capacitor, ensures smooth running characteristics. The motor car and control car are connected via a current-carrying close coupler link, which means that all light and sound functions can be used optimally.

The model has a factory-fitted PIKO sound decoder with a high-quality loudspeaker, which realistically reproduces the typical driving noise of the rail bus. The interior lighting, headlights as well as the lamps above the driver's cabs and the side train destination displays can be switched separately - for an authentic appearance by day and night.
